The Leaf Project Gallery

I initially began making leaves after spending the summer of 2016 in Mexico. I was so taken by the welcoming warmth of its people and the bright colors manifested in all parts of its culture. And then came the US election. And later came the images of children torn from their parents' arms as they were separated at the border to Mexico. As a mother, I was bereft with sorrow seeing children, caged and cold, left alone, not knowing when they would see their parents again. These children became my leaf project. I dream in color for them, and am creating an individual leaf for each child still separated these many years later.
